NEW YORK-Javelin Technologies, a subsidiary of Nyfix, and supplier of FIX solutions, is now offering certification and monitoring tools with its updated, Appia FIX engine, version 4.0.

Javelin’s FIX monitoring tool, TradeScope, is being rolled out to existing customers as has the company’s automated FIX testing and certification tool, FIXertifier.

With these announcements comes other news, that Nyfix is rebranding the Javelin solutions under the Nyfix brand name.

“This will include the Appia FIX engine and multi-protocol messaging technology, TradeScope FIX and FIXertifier,” says Keith Jamaitis, president of Nyfix USA. “The new branding will maximize synergies between the integrated FIX services offered by Nyfix, including its global FIX Network, and the FIX tools produced by the Javelin product team … With the re-branding, the company will continue to commit resources to product development on its FIX services, but will change its marketing to reflect its global brand name of Nyfix,” adds Jamaitis.

Appia, which is Nyfix’s flagship FIX and financial protocol infrastructure engine, “is a FIX messaging engine that can be used across all asset classes-both domestically and internationally,” says Jamaitis. “Besides being specific to the FIX protocol, it also supports CMS and other common industry protocols like [IBM’s] MQSeries.”

The updated Appia engine can be bought as a single engine or as a high-availability, dual-engine solution, says Jamaitis. The high-availability option can be deployed on-site at user firms or hosted by Nyfix.

Users onboard will include the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and Lehman Brothers, says a Nyfix spokesperson. In addition, according to Jamaitis, recurring third-party systems providers such as Portware and InData will also use the upgraded version of Appia. Jamaitis adds that the company has licensed approximately 150 FIX engines.
