Description:
The Application Support Manager is the primary contact within the eBusiness Infrastructure group for all customer issues requiring development support. The manager provides the entity development teams with assistance that requires interfacing with the engineering, architecture, vendor, and industry best practices. The manager ensures that environment and service affecting problems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner-as per established Infrastructure SLAs. The manager also functions as the engineering resource responsible for providing the engineers with direction in implementing the Infrastructure to suit entity development and functional requirements.

Summarized Responsibilities:
· Provide the application development teams with assistance in reviewing developed applications to determine changes needed to resolve reported issues: defect tracking and error/warning log files.
· Provide tactical direction at a project level, provide technical guidance and monitor project and development processes that use the Websphere Infrastructure.
· Work closely with the Architecture team to ensure application development teams leverage common application platforms and guidelines specific to the delivered Infrastructure.
· Determine the best way to utilize common application platforms and frameworks running on the eBusiness Infrastructure.
· Understand the entity Websphere Portal implementations with the intent of working with the teams on how to best leverage the products: IBM IHS, Websphere, and Websphere Portal.
· Matrix manage subject matter experts and interact with Team Leaders responsible for allocating dedicated resources to resolve escalated issues.
· Conduct meaningful operational reviews and assessment of monitoring, performance, and capacity metrics to verify that systems are functioning as designed.
· Contribute to the professional development, training, and performance programs of members within the eBusiness Infrastructure group.
· Work to resolve sensitive client complaints, ensuring that at the end of the investigation there is an official response issued to the appropriate individuals when required.
· Partner with internal business groups to identify business requirements and determine how best to implement and support.

Requirements:
· BS/BE degree or equivalent technical experience in computer science, engineering, or business.
· 10+ years of analysis/design/programming experience in Web development, including a minimum of 3 years as a technical support engineer with direct access to business customers.
· Experienced problem solver with a history of managing and resolving critical issues: with vendor products, and involving different internal development groups.
· Hands-on experience with Websphere Portal, Websphere, ATG Dynamo and/or BEA WebLogic, Linux and/or Unix.
· Hands-on development lead with extensive experience in application development tools and methodologies.
· Able to ensure that appropriate procedures for support are developed, documented, and publicized in accordance with industry best practices for Internet solutions.
· Able to create project plans and presentations using such tools as Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
· Must have a solid development and project life cycle development background with operational experience.
· Experience with object oriented programming concepts and familiar with Internet technologies: Java Web development, HTML, XML, Flash, Perl, EJB, Java Beans, MVC, Oracle or DB2.
· Must be able to meet established schedules and deadlines, and communicate areas of concern.
· Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal communication, writing and organizational skills with ability to comfortably interact with senior management.
· Ability to manage multiple projects across a matrix organization and work independently in a fast-paced banking environment.
· Must have and be able to project a strong customer-oriented sense of urgency.
· Experience in large financial organization with functional expertise in development/application support, Infrastructure operations support, and process management highly preferable.
· Applied knowledge of project management processes and tools as well as software development tools and methodologies.
· Proven ability to understand and draft application requirements, functional specifications, development estimates, and manage global project plans.
· Ability to function in, and provide feedback to a global team composed of development and engineering members. Must have experience in leading and directing remote teams.

Preferred Requirements:
· Familiarity with systems operations and development environments within large enterprise customers and/or service providers is desirable.
· Hands-on development experience with Websphere Portal and development of servlet based applications using Websphere: JACL, Java, portlets, WASD.
· Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), or PMP certification.
