Broker <-> Depository Std. Protocol?

Imported from previous forum

Hi,

We’re a Mexican Broker-dealer involved in a standards commitee of the Mexican Association of Securities Dealers (the AMIB: “Asociación Mexicana de Intermediarios Bursátiles”).

The commitee’s goal is to adopt or define a protocol for straight-through processing on the broker <-> depository interface. Specifically, for the inter-broker clearing and settlement side of the business with the Mexican equivalent of the DTC in the middle (the Indeval: “Instituto Nacional de Depósito de Valores”).

Bowing to the wisdom of the people of this list: Can anyone here point me to existing implementations of such a protocol? Are there any standards efforts along this line?

What about XML? Is there some standards commitee working on DTDs or schemas for this purpose? If so, are there any early adopters or people actually working with such standards (or standards-in-progress)?

Thanks in advance,

FIX 4.3 introduced "Trade Capture Reporting" (in Vol 5) which is designed for this purpose. In fact, DTC helped propose and design this interface.

FIX 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 have an XML DTD which is what we call FIXML. XML Schema work is expected.
