Brook Path Partners Announces FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore for IBM DB2 9 data server
SIFMA Conference Week, New York, Monday 18 June, 2007 - Brook Path Partners, Inc. marks its entrance as a solutions provider with its FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore products to allow storage of FIXML and FpML formatted messages respectively in both native XML and as fully accessible relational data. Capitalizing on IBM’s DB2 9 data server with patented pureXML technology, both Products allow firms to easily transition from purely relational methods of data storage and retrieval to efficiently integrating XML storage and retrieval into their existing infrastructure.
“We expect FIXML Datastore to be of primary interest to firms trading with the major futures and options exchanges.” said Robert Stowsky, Brook Path Partners’ President and CEO. “With major exchanges such as the CME mandating that their members move to FIXML for trade and position reporting before the end of this year, FIXML Datastore will aid in the transition from the old TREX format.”
“FpML Datastore will be of primary interest to investment management firms trading otc derivatives. Major trading platforms such as TradeWeb are now including FpML in their FIX execution reports for Interest Rate and Credit Default Swap trades. FpML Datastore will help with the addition of this otc derivative information to trading and security master databases.”
“Both FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore will make these changes both faster and easier by providing a path to the FIXML and FpML formats that doesn’t require that firms do a lot of coding to support XML in their existing applications.”
On using the revolutionary pureXML technology found in IBM DB2 9, Stowsky adds, “IBM DB 9 with pureXML was the only solution that would meet our customers’ demanding performance requirements. Other database management systems require that XML be stored in an amorphous CLOB or BLOB structure. This results in a need to create complex programs for accessing the data within the XML and a real performance hit when you are trying to integrate with relational data. IBM’s pureXML allows an XML document to be stored in its native format while at the same time providing seamless integration with relational data in a manner that is both efficient and flexible.”
“With the increased use of XML in both listed and over the counter derivatives, the ability to natively access trade information is increasingly essential,” said Bernard Spang, director of IBM data servers. “FIXML and FpML have made financial data in all forms incredibly dynamic, immediate and ever-changing. Having access to all this data to power essential applications is made possible by DB2 9 Viper.”
FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore build on pureXML by providing a complete relational implementation of the FXIML and FpML schema respectively… This allows legacy applications to store and retrieve messages using standard tools like SQL and newer applications that are XML enabled to store and access the same data using tools like XQuery and SQL/XML.
FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore each ship as a set of DB2 command scripts for creating the relational and pureXML structures. Also included are a data dictionary, relational schema and XML to Relational Database mapping documents, and sample applications and source code to get a customer up and running quickly.
Brook Path Partners has licenses for FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore available to institutions, software vendors and service providers.
Brook Path Partners will be demonstrating both FIXML Datastore and FpML Datastore integrated to Orc Software’s CameronFIX Universal Server at the SIFMA 2007 Technology Management Conference & Exhibit at the Orc Software booth, number 1517, June 19-21 at the New York Hilton Hotel.
