Cameron Systems is a fast growing software company selling the specialised software product - the CameronFIX engine - to the securities industry. Cameron Systems development centre is in Melbourne, Australia and the company has sales and development staff in New York and London. Cameron Systems customers include many of the world’s largest banks.
The position: Technical Director / Senior Java Developer – New York / Boston, USA
This is a new position resulting from growth.
Cameron Systems is looking to hire one person for a unique two part role. The role involves being a senior hands on Java developer as well as having a significant client facing role. The role will suit a strong developer who wishes to work with some of the strongest Java/FIX developers in the industry. It will also suit an individual who wishes to grow into a more client focussed role and make a name for themselves in the industry.
Crucial Skills Required:
· comprehensive Java programming knowledge. Intermediate-Level Java Software Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
· Experience with FIX market protocol
· design patterns / object oriented design
· fundamental understanding of threading and synchronization concepts
· network programming / sockets experience
· familiarity of tools such as debuggers and profilers
· comfortable with windows and unix operating system
· bs computer science or equivalent
· Strong presentation and communication skills – ability to talk on a peer-to-peer level with technical development staff
· Ability to manage two roles – development and client facing work
Non crucial but ‘would be good’ skills:
· gui programming experience (swing, swt, ms windows, etc)
· experience with the securities industry
· experience or confidence in operating for a small/medium size high growth company
Travel:
The person would be expected to spend 2-5 days a month travelling within the USA. There may be travel outside USA 1-2 times a year.
Remuneration:
Salary plus potentially stock options.
Start Date:
The position is expected to start as soon as possible.
