Minimum Requirements:
- Undergraduate Degree required
- Specialization in Computer Science,
Engineering or Business related discipline
desired - 5 years in IT and/or Equities business
(Preferably, in application support using the
essential technical skills listed below) - Any European/Asian languages would be an
advantage - Team leading experience, preferably in a
global production environment
Three or more of the following technical skills
are ESSENTIAL
- Unix: including scripting (preferably Perl)
- Any RDBMS (preferably Oracle or Sybase)
- Messaging protocols (MQ and Rendezvous)
- Java and/or JSP
- FIX protocol
- HTML
- ORBIX and CORBA
- C (or other 3GL)
- C++ (and Visual C++)
Experience with one or more of the following
business areas would be an advantage:
- Program Trading experience
- FIX client connectivity
- BRASS trading and order management
system - NyFix trading and order management
system - Equities business (in particular cash
Equities)

Job Description:
Cash Equities Services GSD is a dedicated
application support division of UBS, distinct
from IT Development and Perot (who support
infrastructure such as Unix and Sybase).
GSD focus on business critical applications,
providing 1st / 2nd line support,
cross-business project
management/consultancy (e.g. Disaster
Recovery) and tactical development.
The team we are recruiting for supports the
front to back systems that provide traders with
the ability to execute trades on the NYSE,
AMEX and NASDAQ markets via NyFix and
BRASS. Manage and support middle-tier
application for routing from our client
connectivity infrastructure via FIX protocol and
to downstream systems for allocations, P&L
and settlement. These applications are part of
an integrated system portfolio with full
eCommerce and Straight-through-Processing
capability.
Previous experience in supporting or
developing for Cash Equity Trading business
is essential. Equity related
investment-banking experience in excess of 5
years is also required. Individuals must be
self-starting, possess verbal and written
communication skills and be
customer-service orientated. Excellent
listening skills are essential.

reliability, responsiveness, assurance and
empathy are essential to ensure a courteous
and efficient service is provided with tact and
patience. The ability to manage a tense
situation is a must.
Specific Responsibilities:
- This position requires a high level of
technical skills that can be demonstrated and
an ability to resolve complex problems
creatively - Responsible for the management of
production problems, ensuring effective and
timely resolution. - Proactively identify and resolve potential
system problems - Demonstrate understanding of how and
when production issues should be escalated - Promote the overall stability of the system
through improved monitoring and similar
initiatives - Develop a broad knowledge and
understanding of support, Global IT
operations, technology and business issues
in order to identify specifications to improve
the supportability of products - Function as a liaison to the Equity business,
ensuring that issues important to the users
are identified and addressed or directed to the
appropriate area - Develop effective lines of communication
with customers, and within I.T.
Periodic Responsibilities (performed as
needed:
- Co-ordination of system releases
- Participate in the implementation of new
products and enhancements to the UBS
software - Create and maintain applications
documentation for training, cross-training,
troubleshooting and UBSW infrastructure - Team leading experience; preferably in a
global production environment
