Confirmation Message and AllocSettlInstType ( tag 780)

Hello,

I have been reviewing the FIX 4.4 specifications, including FIXMate and I could not find tag 780 in Confirmation Message definition.

I expected tag 780 to be part of confirmation message based on the usage of the tag 780 in the FAWG Version 7.

The FAWG uses 780 to indicate Full SSI’s are included in the Confirmation message, please see page 108 of FAWG version 7.

So the question is which document is correct or is it being proposed that field 780 is used as a custome field for SSI.

Hello,

A good spot - this is indeed missing from the Confirmation (and also Allocation Report) and shouldn’t be. I will ask the GTC to add this field in to both messages. The documentation in volume 7 is correct.

Message SettlementInstructions (MsgType T) uses common component SettlInstructionsData in repeating block, but has no field AllocSettlInstType, either per block or globally in the message.

Maybe I miss the point of SettlInstructionsData inclusion… :sunglasses:

As I see it, the typical use of the Settlement Instructions message type would be to populate a local store of Settlement Instructions.

The AllocSettInstType is used within the FIX Allocation message to show whether the settlement instructions for the accounts are to be found in the message (in full or part), in a database, phone etc. The Settlement Instructions messages could have been used to update the database.

Hence I would see no need for this field to be defined within the Security Instruction message.

So, populating SettlInstructionsData within SettlementInstructions I can assume that I always provide full detail (as if it had AllocSettlInstType=2/Full details).
