Custom fields for internal use

Hello all,

We would like to use some custom fields for some additional messaging between internal components in our system. Is there a field range that would be suitable to use for this purpose?

We’d like to avoid future clashes but as the fields are purely internal it seems overkill to take and publish them if there is a range set aside for this purpose that can be re-used.

David, the FIX website has a facility for registering user defined field tag numbers and preventing colissions. See "Tech Resources", "Custom Fields".

You might want to scour through the list to see if ones you need are already defined. Note "reserving" a tag number for a custom field is done on a first-come, first-served basis.
