Description/Requirements

This leading Major International Financial company is offering an extraordinary opportunity to play a pivotal role in helping to orchestrate the activities of an existing team of Business Intelligence professionals (Data Modelers, DBAs, Analytic Reporting Admins., ETL Developers) in the execution of a large-scale trading ODS/ DW (Operational Data Store/Data Warehouse) project with high-transaction requirements coupled with reference data consolidation and distribution.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the design of the ODS and the Data Warehouse supporting a back-end trade, non-trade and reference data processing pipeline for a high speed, easily controllable, near real-time system.

-Candidates must have VLDB (Very large Database) database architecture and product engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of industry-standard DW technologies (e.g. Oracle, Ab Initio, SOA/Web Services, Sybase).
-Hub and Spoke architecture experience. Data distribution experience required, preferably in a financial environment.
-Large-scale Data Warehousing (both relational and dimensional) using Oracle (9i,10g a plus).
-Reference data (e.g. customer, account, products, calendar, etc.) consolidation and distribution experience required. -Knowledge and understanding of Sybase, Sybase IQ, Erwin, MOLAP DBs (e.g. Applix TM1), and Ab Initio required. -Design development, test and QA standards and processes for data warehousing system.
-Work with ETL developer to formulate and engineer ETL approach using Ab Initio.
-Analyze application and data integration problems, provide solutions and recommend corrective actions.
-Contribute to physical database design optimizations based on business needs.
-Experience with data warehouse lifecycles and strong understanding of the role of methodology / frameworks (e.g. Kimball, Inmon).

  • Exceptional understanding of relational and multi-dimensional data design and development techniques.
    -Must understand where each data modeling technique is appropriate.
    -Able to translate business requirement definitions activities into logical and physical database designs.
    -Experience with data warehousing technologies such as ETL, star schema, snowflake schema, cube design, and others. -Knowledgeable of metadata requirements and solutions.
    -Knowledgeable of data stewardship, data quality and data distribution methods.
