Delta Fields Base Values

Hello,
Could someone please explain how these fields should be handled? If I have a global dictionary and 2 templates.

Within template1, I have a seqNum field defined as,

uint32 name=seqNum id=34 increment value=“1”

Within Template2, seqNum field is defined as

uint32 name=seqNum id=34 delta

So, within the global FAST dictionary, seqNum will have a default value of “1”, as set by Template1.

When the seqNum field is decoded for Template2, the dictionary value is initially undefined. The specification says in this instance to use the initial value if present in the instruction context, or to use a default base value. So do I set the base value to “1”, i.e. the initial value, or do I use a default base?
