dictionaries in EUREX-FAST

Imported from previous forum

Hey everybody.

Just got confused about dictionaries. Do I have to maintain one (and just one) global dictionary for decoding EUREX EBS-FAST-message streams?
In the EBS-Specification is a sentence that says: All the operators share the same dictionary regardless of the template and application type.
and there is another: For the same message type, FAST
compression will be applied to the fields from the second
message.

What I did not get is: is there one dictionary for each message type or not? Is message type matching to templates in this case? But then there would be a hint to different ditionaries for each template in the template, well there is no one… confused

Hi Martin,

yes, there is only one global dictionary in Eurex EBS. Because Eurex EBS distributes the information in form of multicast datagrams, the dictionary is valid only for one datagram. Inside one datagram there can be more FAST reset message, which resets the dictionary. There is no template specific dictionary.

Hi,
I’m a little bit confused about this issue…
Taking into account both the FAST documentation, and the FAST Message Templates provided as Appendix of the Eurex - Enhanced Broadcast Solution handbook, I would say there is no a global dictionary, but one dictionary per Application Type (that in the case of EBS it should correspond to one dictionary per Template).
In fact w.r.t. the FAST handbook sections [5 Application Types], [6.1 Instruction Context] and [6.3.1 Dictionaries and Previous Values], each time the FAST engine encounters an element containing a td:typeRef element it should change dictionary…

Please let me know if I’m making a mistake.
Thanks in advance,
– Ale

Hi,

the Eurex Spec. says (Page 19):
Please note, that EBS uses global dictionary scope far FAST operators. All the operator share the same dictionary regardless of the template and application type. …
