Hi FIX folks,

Do any governments permit using classifieds platforms like ebay.com or craigslist.org to trade securities?

As John pointed out at http://fixprotocol.org/discuss/read/84880800 its not permitted in USA.

Wanted to know about other geographies.

My Guess is that trading is actually simple, clearing and settlement is harder. Securities has to be hold somewhere, exchanged for money in a safe way (so you don’t end up with a one legged trade, losing shares for no money, or pay for something that you never gets).
And, you have to be register somewhere as the new owner. A process that takes at least 3 days.
