# Does FIX = direct access in FX market ?

Hi,  
I am brand new to this, in fact only just learned about FIX today.  
Anyway, am I correct to assume that participants in FX market who uses  
FIX are equivalent to having direct access to the interbank system ?

Please enlighten me.

The purpose of the FX FIX spec is to support dealable streaming prices and request for quotes for spot, outrights and swaps. This is primarily aimed at banks providing pricing to clients direct or via an intermediary and for access to FX ECNs. This is not the same as having access to the interbank market.
