Does FIX have any plans for Avro framework in the near future?
The FIX Trading Community is willing to consider support for any standard or de facto standard encoding that has sufficient community interest and support. Interest and support means that there is sufficient market participants willing to step forward to develop the encoding standard for FIX. Development of a FIX encoding standard entails a mapping of the FIX value based application level data types to the lexical (“wire format”) of the proposed encoding standard and the mapping of FIX application layer messages, components, groups, codesets to the proposed encoding.
There is currently no community interest for Avro framework (https://avro.apache.org/) support in FIX that I am aware of.
