The Simple Open Framing Header (SOFH) Release Candidate 1 was posted for 90 day public review September 10, 2016 and no material feedback raising concerns or issues has been received to date.
The GTC believes the SOFH Technical Specification to be of suitable quality and having achieved fit for purposefulness to be adopted. The GTC has expressed a high level of confidence. Therefore, the SOFH Draft Standard will be in the draft period for six months (December 2016 – May 2017). Two implementations that demonstrate interoperability are needed to move it to Technical Standard - Version 1.0. Potential adopters are strongly encouraged to begin working with the Draft Standard.
I would like to propose a clarification to the SOFH standard to elucidate that the framing header could be used to frame multiple messages as per the discussions on github (below) since currently it states that the message length is for one message only. We could also add a few examples to illustrate this point:
The Message_Length shall be defined to be the length in octets (i.e. bytes) of a message inclusive of the length of the Simple Open Framing Header.
