Encoding FIX using Google Protocol Buffers

The FIX Global Technical Committee has published Version 1.0 of the FIX Technical Standard “Encoding FIX Using GPB” as a Draft Standard back in May 2019. We would now like to finalise Version 1.0 of the standard and are seeking evidence for actual implementations. A Draft Standard cannot be changed beyond clarifications and elaborations unless serious conceptual errors were encountered in the specification during its implementation.

There has been recent interest in a public FIX GitHub repository called fix-orchestra-protobuf that contains translators from FIX Orchestra to the protobuf family of serializations.

Please respond to this thread if you are interested in this topic and can share any information on existing or previous implementations of FIX using GPB as encoding.

Thank you,
Hanno Klein.

Hi, Thanks for offering a place to communicate with community members. I’m from Shanghai Stock Exchange. We are trying to adopt GPB to our core trading system. Hoping to minimize the gap between FixGPB Draft Standard and our approach.

@klin thank you very much for sharing that information. FIX is in the process of moving the Draft Standard to the final version, aka Technical Standard. We can still make corrections and clarifications, so please share any issues you find in the current Draft Standard.
