Error on checksum example?

I’ve recently download the Word version of the FIX4.1 spec with Errata June 30, 1999. On page 90, which is Appendix B, an example was given on third paragraph. “if the checksum has been calculated to be 274 then the modulo 256 value is 22”. Can someone tell me if this is an error? I think 274 % 256 is 18, unless I should use a different numbering system.
