I have logged a number of minor errors in the FIX Specification using FIXwiki (http://fixwiki.fixprotocol.org/).
Most of the errors relate to the Glossary in Volume 1 of the specification.
I am sure that we have all come across errors in the specification. Often they may be minor but they can nevertheless be very confusing and should be corrected. FIXwiki provides a simple way that the FIX community as a whole can identify these errors.
For example, in the glossary the Sell Short term is mistakenly associated with the OrdType field. In fact, it is a special value of the Side field.
This error is reported in the Notes section of the FIXwiki page for the SeelShort value of Side: http://fixwiki.fixprotocol.org/fixwiki/Side/5_SellShort
There is a special way of reporting errors in the spec. In this case the following text is added to the Notes of the SellShort page:
“{{SpecError}}
In the Glossary (Spec volume 1) this value is incorrectly associated with the [[OrdType]] field.”
The special text {{SpecError}} flags this as a specification error report. All specification error reports can be simply viewed in FIXwiki by clicking on the link “FIX Spec Errors” in the navigation section of FIXwiki.
