Dan May brought up some additions needed to support file based I/O for the creation of compressed files of market data. Seems like we should get some folks working on this as there does appear to be a great deal of interest in this capability.

A key feature needed for FAST files are FAST encoded template definitions and declarations which were removed from SCP, at least if you want to create self sufficient files. As I commented in another reply: if it’s not in SCP we can put it another document.
