Financial Software Engineer

Working with the firm’s growing Quantitative Strategies business unit, the Financial Software Engineer will be a highly skilled object-oriented C++ developer who possesses the ability to communicate exceptionally well within a team-oriented environment. This individual will work closely with the business unit professionals on a daily-basis, and he/she will have a significant influence on implementing a set of software development standards within the group which may also be relevant to other areas of the firm.

The position will be based in the firm’s New York office, and the individual will report to the New York Manager of Software Development.

Responsibilities
The Financial Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for gathering requirements from the team, articulating these requirements, and executing the product. He/she will
-Develop a software platform consisting of utilities to stream line the quantitative development process,
-Be responsible for integrating new strategies or research into production applications and systems,
-Gather and analyze requirements from the Quantitative Strategies group to ensure their technology needs are being met.

Qualifications
-Outstanding C++ abilities
-Strong mathematical background
-Solid OOP skills
-Familiarity with design patterns
-Strong academic background, advanced degree in Computer Science a plus
-Strong Multi Threaded environment skills

Functional
-Front Office or trading floor support experience
-Financial software development experience
-Familiarity with SQL
-C/S Peer to Peer exp.

Additional
-Trading systems, analytics, or quantitative software development experience
-Windows development experience
-FIX, Tibco, SFC SSL experience a STRONG PLUS.

Compensation will be competitive, consisting of a base salary and bonus component, and will be commensurate with experience.
