Actually, iPhone has Safari, the fully functional web browser. You can use Safari to work with FIX 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 5.0 and FIXT 1.1 dictionaries without installing additional software, free of charge. Why not go directly to the source at the FPL website (includes current version FIX 5.0 SP1 as well which is missing on b2bits)? It also allows to access multiple versions (FIX 4.0 and above) from within a single representation (simple list box to choose the FIX version).

Hanno, Vlad, Thanks. I will try those links and the app out over the next couple of days. I like the idea of a standalone app. Always good to see the popularity that FIX has.

Hahaha! You can use Google Spreadsheets in their Docs suite instead of Microsoft Excel too ! It is free of charge and can be used from a web browser. Every app has its rightful place.

Yes you can! 
However, I wouldn’t recommend using Google’s email or docs suite because I am sure they have reserved rights to read your correspondence and probably documents you stored on their servers.
Almost the same thing with iPhone. When you think you are connected to your email server or browsing the web page, in fact you are connected to Apple Corporation’s server which forwards your connection to where you want, however, they can track where you go, what are you reading and so one and so force.
I remember those movies about the corporations controlling the world…

I tried both the application and the web browser. Using safari gave access to more versions obviously but I did end up with intermittent crashes when trying to scroll thru too quickly. Probably more of a safari issue than anything else.
The application isnt free but was cheap (1.99 i think). It is restricted to the 4.0 version but I did like the search. Very quick. Also useful for lookup offline since i sometimes get spotty 3G service in my office.
