FIX Application Support Specialist
Job Description:
This is an exciting chance to be on the ground floor as the American Stock Exchange builds its trading system from the ground up, utilizing the latest technologies available to essentially ‘leapfrog’ over their competition.
The FIX Application Support Specialist will support Amex trading applications across equities, options, and ETF platforms. The role involves dealing with clients, both in-person and on the phone, to help resolve trading system connectivity and trading application related issues. It pays competitively, from about 95K – 110K, depending upon the candidate’s experience/skill level.
Responsibilities:
• Support trading product users on a day-to-day basis on any issues reported and resolve issues by closely working with traders and trading system support teams
• Manage the configuration and testing of the FIX gateway that provides our clients with access to proprietary front-end trading applications, strategy engines, and direct exchange destinations
• Work with customers and/or third party development firms to identify trading issues (front end and API) via troubleshooting methods and log analysis
• Manage testing environment; identify tools/environment/data needed to execute pre-production test plans and upgrades
• Set-up customer connectivity to access development test environment, troubleshoot issues, simulate trading states, and report status based on structured application functionality templates
• Identify and validate software code fixes in response to support issues
• Conceive strategies for test automation
• Assist with software installation and configuration
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of the products and be able to contribute ideas and recommendations that will provide continuous improvements in the use of technologies utilized
• Conduct technical diagnosis of operational problems on development and production environments
• Coordinate and manage development application testing and end-user acceptance
• Work closely with product managers, developers, and various internal customers to remove potential obstacles to ensure smooth client deployments
• Work closely with internal support organizations and business units to monitor the status of ongoing technology issues and expedite resolution
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in business, management, or technical discipline; or equivalent direct experience
• Securities and trading industry experience
• Experience with: Electronic Trading Client Connectivity; trading interface design; analyzing message format; execution of certification testing; and reporting
• Understand FIX business requirements from institutional clients/brokers, discuss and organize physical connectivity, understand client/broker testing process and procedures and liaise with QA team and perform the testing with client/broker
• Technical knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server Operating Systems, UNIX, and Linux
• Diligent in documenting all issues and following up to completion
• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent, and conflicting priorities and deadlines
• Strong background in the technology operations and application life-cycle management in the financial markets industry
• Network hardware experience
• Advanced operating knowledge of and experience with desktop computers, file servers, network/Internet connectivity and/or remote access
• Ability to identify bugs and to document system behavior
• Must be able to: gain internal support; operate independently with limited supervision; and establish a solid working relationship with member firms, vendors, technical staff, business executives, and peers.
