FIX Client Connectivity (UNIX Windows TCP/IP)

I have a position that deals with FIX client connectivity and connectivity to OTC and Exchange traded products. Client emphasizes the need for strength in UNIX Windows TCP/IP skills. Contract to Hire opportunity with 6 month term to start.

Main Duties: The primary responsibilities of this position include testing and integration of new FIX Electronic Trading Order Management and Routing infrastructure; development and integration of FIX Interfaces between client and external clients; managing the configuration and testing of FIX Gateway that provides clients with access to proprietary front-end trading applications, strategy engines and direct exchange destinations; working very closely with Equity,Futures,Fixed Income, business unit, application development groups and 3rd Party Vendors. It will require designing FIX specification and FIX message format to accommodate the individual trading and order handling requirements. The responsibilities include planning, execution and support of turnovers/upgrades to implement new infrastructure and upgrade existing systems in simulation environment.

Skills desired: FIX background and experience, Windows, UNIX, Sybase or MS Sql Server, or Oracle, must be able able to do SQL queries, understanding of connectivity, networks, firewall and TCP/IP protocol. Should possess superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Java and C++ desired. Knowledge of OTC and Exchange Traded Products desired. UNIX Shell scripting or Perl. 3 + years in the Financial Services Industry. Most Important skills are Wintel, Unix, Oracle, Sybase and FIX (will take someone without FIX messaging if they are very bright and have all else). Again, must have financial industry experience.
