Hello,
I recently noticed patent #5864827, “System and method for providing an information gateway” which specifically describes software for converting financial information between formats such as FIX and other protocols. In other words, a FIX gateway or hub would fit this description. The patent was filed on June 27, 1997. Was there really no related prior art at that time? It would seem that quite a few of the current FIX vendor multiprotocol hub offerings might be infringing on this patent.

Sorry about responding to myself again, but I just saw this press release from the patent holder. It appears they are intending to pursue legal action against patent infringements.
