Java development in a FIX & MQ environment
Function:-
The role resides within Global Equities division. This small, focused team is responsible for developing and implementing a range of systems designed to support the requirements of the front office salesmen and traders.
These solutions encapsulate middleware (MQ), FIX gateways for message exchange to clients, and databases to store transaction, static, and other related information, as well as intranet based applications.
Main Duties
The main duties of the job are to:
Correct identified bugs and release to live in a timely fashion whilst following team testing standards.
Perform 2nd line support for all applications produced by the team.
Report progress to line management on a weekly basis.
Exp:-
Several years working within an Investment Banking environment specifically within a J2EE server based development team
Education :- Degree pref
Essential skills:-
At least 3 years Investment Banking experience
At least 2 years exposure to Equity based financial products and the process flows involved in trading shares on behalf of clients.
Excellent understanding of J2EE concepts and technology
Several years coding experience of Java using JDK 1.3 or later
Excellent understanding of the FIX protocol at version 4.2 or later
EJB’s & experience of various containers & their management (especially SUN One Application Server and/or JBoss)
Java Web Start / Applets
Servlets & JSPs
HTML & Javascript
SQL / Stored Procedures
The candidate must be self motivated and pro-active. They must be able to manage their own work to comply with timescales and scope agreed with the Project Manager.
Excellent understanding of n-tier design and intranet technologies
Excellent understanding of MOM, especially MQ Series
Disirable Skills
Exposure to working with traders
Excellent communication skills at all levels.
Experience of working within a team and building solutions as such.
COM/J2EE Bridging experience - knowledge of MTS
.NET experience
Web design skills
Oracle 9i
