The possibility of moving the FIX Specification on to FIXwiki was mentioned at the end of the original FIXwiki posting (http://www.fixprotocol.org/discuss/read/9eff71d3).
As a trial, a significant part of the specification has been converted and is now available on FIXwiki for general review. Go to www.cameronedge.com/fixwiki, log in and click on the new “FIX specification” link on the navigation bar on the left of each page.
The overall structure of the specification is maintained. However I think it is much clearer and more usable in this form. All of Volume 3 (Pre-trade messages) of the specification plus parts of Volume 1 have been converted.
Note that the contents of Volume 6 and message definitions from all volumes were already present on the original FIXwiki.
The process of converting the specification is a semi automated process, aided by some of the tools used to construct the original FIXwiki. It is tedious work, but it took only a week to get this far. So I think it is perfectly practical to move the whole spec over in a reasonable time frame. I am happy to complete this work and donate it to FPL if the community feels it is worth pursuing.

Because the conversion is not complete, many links just lead to stubs still to be filled in. The most interesting (ie completed) links from the “FIX specification” page are:
