In an effort to more universally promote the adoption and growing acceptance of the FIX protocol in our region, The Americas Region Steering Committee has established a Best Practices Working Group to address usage models, case studies and other ongoing educational issues.

As part of the initiative, the Committee has decided to launch an official publication, FIXAMERICAS, which will be published on a quarterly basis and include article content from various areas of expertise in the community.

Our Challenges

  • While FIX is well established in North America for secondary cash equities, there are still many firms with minimal FIX capabilities.
  • Adoption of FIX to support other assets, products and services (e.g. Exchange Traded Derivatives, Fixed Income, Allocations) has been relatively limited.
  • End users (e.g. Traders / PMs / Sales Traders / Market Places) are not fully aware of the business drivers/benefits for automating the execution process.

Our Solution

• The Americas Region FIX Committee recognizes the need to deal with the challenges head-on, and aims to establish a high-quality, authoritative journal, to be published on a quarterly basis.
• The new publication, called FIXAMERICAS, will highlight the key business benefits, drivers and possible solutions for financial services firms throughout the Americas markets.

Project Outline

  • 10,000 copies will be distributed to a controlled circulation and subscriber database with a targeted and timely editorial content.
  • The project will be directed by an Editorial Board comprised of representatives of the Americas Region FIX Committee and the publication sponsors.
  • The initial issue of the quarterly publication is targeted for 2003 and will have approximately 48 pages of text.
