Today, we are excited to announce the first release of the most affordable QA and debugging tool for FIX developers around the world.

FIXTrace is a new development, QA and support tool for FIX applications that provides an easy and efficient mechanism to examine and analyze a FIX message stream. FIXTrace logs the entire communication flow, parses messages, displays message content in an easy-to-read format and detects any protocol compliance issues.

Through its non-intrusive design, FIXTrace is compatible with any FIX application designed to communicate through TCP sockets. It is simply interposed between a client and a server and its connection interceptor transparently forwards all inbound and outbound communications.

FIXTrace is really geared at development and QA but it could also be used in certain production support situations where a specific issue has to be investigated and cannot be recreated in a support environment. The limiting factor right now is that FIXTrace is not server-based and therefore is not designed to support a very large number of connections in a production environment, in real time.

In terms of performance, FIXTrace is designed to minimize any impact on latency by using dedicated connection threads and asynchronous parsing of message detail. This design results in minimal latency.
