Hi,

In FIX is it ok to forward a message which doesn’t have a DeliverTo field to a different party?

Hiranya,

Do you mean to say that the client has not instructed to forward the message and your side is doing the same? In that case its not a valid point.
In case you are referring to absence of tag 128/129 in the message, then you can still forward the message using tag 57.

Thanks for the reply Sunil. I think I get it now. Also I would like to know whether it is acceptable to forward a message to a session with a different BeginString. For an example can I forward a message which came over a 4.0 session to a 4.1 session?

Of course you can forward it to a different session having different fix version but your fix engine should be able to translate the message in the specified fix version format. I hope you understand what i mean to say. For example a fill Er received on fix version 4.2 has tag 150 & 151, but your fix engine must be suppressing these two tags while forwarding it to a fix 4.0 client.
