December 27, 2004 - FIX Protocol Ltd. (FPL) is pleased to announce the formation of a Market Data Optimization Working Group, which is being jointly sponsored by the FPL Global Technical Committee and the FPL Global Derivatives Committee. The establishment of this group is due to the fact that the bandwidth and processing requirements are outpacing message rate growth in many market venues across all asset classes. A significant opportunity exists to establish standard protocols and a common means for dissemination of market data information.
This Working Group is open to all FPL member firms and will be headed by Matt Simpson of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Rich Shriver of Jordan and Jordan. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 9:00 AM EST. If anyone is interested in FPL membership or joining this working group please contact the FPL Program Office at fpl@fixprotocol.org or + 1 (212) 652 4469. The link to this working group page is http://www.fixprotocol.org/mdoptwg.
Rich Shriver echoed sentiments raised by several FPL member participants in the recent FPL Americas Conference by observing: " With significant growth in message rates, this is a crucial time to improve the efficiencies of market data dissemination for many market venues". Matt Simpson added: “The formation of the Market Data Optimization Working Group is yet another example of FPL’s commitment to solving our industry’s needs”.
