FPL Roundtable Discussion - SEC Regulation SHO - Jan. 13th 1PM ET

Imported from previous forum

Last year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced a new rule called Regulation SHO which is focused on making changes to the regulation of short sales. For more information on the regulation itself, please refer to the following link: http://www.sec.gov/rules/final/34-50103.pdf.

The FPL Americas Business Practices Subcommittee created a document focused on how Regulation SHO can and will be implemented through FIX. The writeup defined fields and workflow for FIX communications between suppliers and customers regarding location of securities for short sale transactions (http://www.fixprotocol.org/documents/1004/FPL%20Americas%20REG%20SHO%20(2).pdf).

We have received a number of questions and comments based on this and as a follow-up would like to hold a roundtable conference call to discuss what firms are now doing to address the issues with the regulation. This call will be open to both members and non-members of FPL. In particular, it would be interesting to get a view from the vendors on how they are intending to address the regulation.

Please confirm if you would like to participate on a call on Thursday, January 13th at 1:00PM ET by contacting the FPL Program Office at fpl@fixprotocol.org or + 1 212 652 4469. Once confirmation is received, you will be sent call-in information.

Regards,
Greg Arnold and Erick Valdes, Co-Chairs of the FPL Americas Business Practices Subcommittee
