I am in the process of switching from 4.0 to 4.1, do I have to re-certify with 4.1? Thank you in advance.

At present, there is no formal, recognized FIX certfication mechanism. (There’s work in progress to create one for Fixed Income, but that certainly doesn’t apply to FIX 4.0 and 4.1.) So, as far as FPL is concerned, you never “certified” with FIX 4.0 to begin with, so there’s no need to “re-certify” with 4.1.
However, trading partners generally run tests with each other prior to turning on a production FIX connection. If you suddenly switch your session to FIX 4.1 without notifying your trading partners in advance, it could easily break things. It’s generally a good idea to repeat your testing with all of your trading partners when upgrading to a newer FIX version and coordinate the transition.
