FutSettDate and Account in the Bid Request message

In the Bid Request message (MsgType = k) there are two fields shown in the message definition where the mandatory field is not specified. The fields are FutSettDate and Account. Are these intended to be mandatory ?

As a general question, where errors or omissions are found in the FIX 4.2 specification, are the corrections all listed in one place. If so, where ?

This is a typo. The Req’d column should have specified “N” indicating that they are not required for the Bid Request message.

We will release an Errata to the 4.2 spec soon (did this Jun 1999 for FIX 4.1). The Errata allows us to correct typographical errors and add clarification changes w/o introducing new fields, messages, or functionality which would otherwise "break" an implementation of the spec.
