Hello, I’m looking to identify a significant number of very old exchanges and match these to valid MIC codes. I have been able to identify some of these where they have merged with other exchanges or ceased trading altogher - but I cannot find historic information on a number of these.

I have looked around this site and found the ISO: 10383 MIC page which details a few deleted MIC codes and there related exchange name and only a limited document detailing some ‘defunct’ exchanges (the Version 5 SP2 Volume 6 specification) - but I cannot find a detailed document.

Is there a much larger repository of information for older exchanges out there that could give me an idea if exchanges still exist or not?

Did you look at this page http://www.iso15022.org/MIC/homepageMIC.htm ?
There is a spreadsheet there, the last tab contains over a hundred historical exchanges.

Hi Fred,

Yes, I have looked at this, but I could not find the exchanges I am looking for. I can give you a few that I could not locate:

Perth Stock Exchange
Iberian Energy Exchange
Michigan Grain Exchange

This is just a sample of the kind of exchanges i’m trying to track down, in some cases I have done research into exchanges from as far back as 35-40 years. I just hoped there would be a detailed list of all the exchanges that have actively traded over the past.

It seems you should go for it old fashioned way - google them;-).
I tried one:
Australian Securities Exchange - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) was created by the merger of the … Sydney (1871), Hobart (1882), Brisbane (1884), Adelaide (1887) and Perth …

It would be rather helpful for community if you can post your Historic Exchanges results(unless they are proprietary;-).

Yes, I have looked at this, but I could not find the exchanges I am looking for. I can give you a few that I could not locate:

Thanks for the replies, yea I’ve had to do a lot of research that way already, but i went out on a limb to see if there was historic data somewhere specific to this :slight_smile:

I have a long way to go as a specific system we use has been in operation for over 40 years - it can get nasty :frowning:
