Head of Information Technology, Asia Pacific - Hong Kong
Major finance company seeks a Head of Information Technology for Asia Pacific. The position will be responsible for the overall deployment and the monitoring of all information systems and technology activities in the region. Responsibilities include all applications, IT infrastructure, development activities and user support. Develop IT-related budgets, as well as an annual and strategic plan for the region which supports the mid and long-term business development. Coordinate regional technology initiatives and develop long term IT operational plan.
Area of Responsibilities:
- To coordinate and ensure quality control of the local IT departments according to guidance from the Group and the Global Head of IT.
- To liaise with internal clients to provide pro-active support through the local teams or vendors and outside service providers.
- To manage the expenditure/budget for telecommunications, network and workstation systems and the respective operating programs in the region.
- To analyse network needs, evaluate the current infrastructure and to propose solutions/alternatives of current procedures and equipment.
- To plan and co-ordinate the installation and maintenance of telecommunications/network equipment.
- To be responsible for planning, installation and maintenance of workstation systems and the respective operations system.
- To manage Information Security, Business Continuity planning and implementation of key controls.
Qualification and Experience:
- University Degree in related discipline.
- Must have at least five years’ related experience.
- Strong experience in Microsoft engineering technologies. Experience in an NT environment is desirable. Experience with implementation of VPN, XP, technologies would be an asset.
- Prior experience in Asset Management or the Financial Sector; prior regional exposure preferable.
Knowledge & Skills:
- The person will be technically versatile with excellent team and vendor management skills.
- Fluent English written and spoken is required for the position, Cantonese and Mandarin an advantage.
- Possess a combination of strong technical skills and management skills.
- The regional infrastructure coverage includes Windows 2000 servers, MS Exchange, LAN/WAN connectivity, voice systems, firewalls and application infrastructure running on MS IIS and MS SQL Sever 2000.
