How do I learn more about the history of FIX?

This is the Q and A forum after all so here is the answer:

Incredible how FIXGlobal.com with its available back issues provides a history of FIX going back to 2004. It is like time travel. Gerald Weinberg, the great industry consultant used to say, “How did things get this way? They got that way.” FIX Global shows you how things got that way in FIX. An incredible learning experience revisiting articles from 2004 and 2005 in preparation for the Latin American Conference August 9th in Sao Paolo.

In 2004 we had a couple of articles on the founders of FIX. Check them out.

FIX has been very fortunate to be associated with FIXGlobal for these many years.

Hi Jim,

Under http://fixprotocol.org/specifications/fixspecs-older I could find FIX.2.7 the oldest (1995). Any idea where older FIX version documents could be found ? any archives ?

2.7a was the first version publicly released. There were no versions prior to that that were ‘published’. As you noted, it is available on the http://www.fixprotocol.org/specifications/fixspecs-older page.
