Hi All,
What is the implication if a broker ignores an Order Status Request (Msg Type = H) for a New Order-Single message sent from an Institution?
For e.g. Institution sends a New Order Single Message to the Broker followed by a Status Request Message.
Can the Broker ignore sending a “Pending Replace” Execution Report for the Order Status Request and continue with the “New”, “Partially Filled” and “Fully Filled” Execution Reports ??

I guess you meant “Pending New” and not “Pending replace”.
Anyhow coming to the bsaic question, It would always be good to reply with an ER stating the actual status of the order. You can use tag 20=3 to communicate this. However its not very much important and the broker can ignore this request provided that the client OMS is able to take and update the order status on its side by the subsequent ER’s sent by Broker and is not still waiting for a response for its Order Status Request.

I would argue that best practice is to respond to every request, regardless whether the response provides additional information or an ER equally delivers the current status.
Question is whether it is best practice to send an OrderStatusRequest for a new order prior to having received an ER for it. How long does it take to process an incoming new order to the point where the broker can confirm to have taken over responsibility? If there is a significant gap (minutes, hours), an ER with “Pending New” is probably a good idea in order to confirm receipt to the institution.
