Hi,
In what context is tag 803=52 used?
The description ‘ReferenceText’ is a bit vague. Can it be used to send an additional trade reference assigned by a Dealer?

Hi Ramjee,

here is some general advice (also for any other reader on the forum) on how to find more information. It does not work in all cases but is a first step before asking on the forum.

Step 1: check elaboration of PartySubIDType(803) = 52 in FIXimate (https://fiximate.fixtrading.org/)

Result: No elaboration

Step 2: identify Extension Pack (EP) that added it in FIXimate (see right hand side of screenshot)
Result: EP161

Step 3: Download EP (Extension Packs – FIX Trading Community)
Result: EP161-CFTC-Part-43-45-Gap-Analysis-v2.7_ASBUILT.pdf

Step 4: Search for name of value (page 668, trade element RoutingReferenceText)
Result: A piece of free-format text used to assist the identification of a party involved in the routing of a payment.

Notes: You happened to pick the largest EP that FIX ever had :slight_smile:, almost 700 pages. The context of EP161 was regulatory reporting to the CFTC in the US for OTC derivatives. The final result is still vague, i.e. FIX does not provide a very narrow definition other than being related to the routing of a payment. In general, PtysSubGrp component helps to (uniquely) identify a given party in the Parties component.
