Concerning italian stock exchanges, Milan place, I noted that only code available is MI.
Since there are different exchanges on Milan we have difficults in addressing them.
Here is the list of the exchanges and the current local code used:
011 Italian Telematic Stock Market (MTA) and New Market
U012 Italian Bond Market (MOT)
U021 Italian Covered Warrant Market (MCW)
U020 Italian Trading After Hours (TAH)
U022 Italian CW Trading After Hours (TCW)
U017 Italian Euro Bond Market (Euro MOT)
Is it possible to assign a code for them?

It seems to me like the use of the TradingSessionID field (tag 336) which was introduced in FIX 4.2 in conjunction with ExDestination or LastMkt of MI would be the ideal way to handle this. TradingSessionID was established to allow the specification of specific sessions or markets within an exchange. Examples would include "on the floor" vs. "electronic" or "pre-open" vs. "regular" vs. "after hours" or "odd lot" vs. "round lot", etc. It would be up to the Milan exchange and participants to specify and support them (maybe you could simply use the "current local code" listed below for the values. I think this is superior to having us generate sequential numeric ids for each "exchange" subset.

Currently we are using Fix 4.1.
Regardless of this the question does only not concerns the ‘Trading after Hours’; Bond (MOT), Equity (MTA) and Covered Warrant (MCW) markets are effectivly different exchanges, with differents rules. In addition there are derivatives (IDEM) and futures (MIF) markets. While New Market or Restricted Market could be handled and actually are subsets of MTA exchange, like other subsets, all the others are exchanges by themself and so handled by the italian and european financial comunity.
Given this it would help us a lot if they could have a different ‘ExDestination’ code.
Talking about Italy, the funny think is that I could find (on the your web site) a lot of e several exchange code for place like Naples, Palermo, etc., etc. which simply do not exist; the real and only financial place is Milan.
