The role is for a Senior Java application developer working principally on server-side components utilizing J2EE. (This is not a front-end development role.) The candidate will work within a development group that supports the mortgage-backed securities trading desk, and will initially be working on applications related to loan trading and processing.
Platforms: Five (5) to seven (7) years experience of enterprise application software development with Java (JDK 1.x-2.x) is required, with a solid track record of development with Java2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). The candidate will have successfully implemented multiple applications deployed on the BEA WebLogic application server platform (5.1-8.1).
Java/J2EE API: EJB 2.0, JDBC, Servlets, JMS, JNDI, JTA, JAXP, JAXM, JAX-RPC, XML, XSLT, Xalan, Xerces. .
O/S: Red Hat Linux, Windows NT 2000, Sun Solaris.
GUI Systems:
JSP, HTML, DHTML, C#/.NET, Java Applets.
Database Systems: Experience with either Sybase 12.x, or Oracle 9.x is required. Able to design and implement a physical data model using relational modeling techniques. Able to design and implement stored procedures using either Transact-SQL or PL/SQL. Experience with Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) drivers such as BEA/WebLogic JDBC or Sybase jConnect required.
Other Programming Skills:
• Solid object-oriented design skills using UML. Will have working knowledge of UML class diagrams, state sequences, activity and collaboration diagram approaches to system modeling. Able to implement a component model in Java from a UML specification.
• Familiarity with financial messaging protocols is a plus.
• Ability to design XML schemas and work with DOM
• Web Services implementation experience.
• Experience with BEA WebLogic Integrator or other workflow engines is a plus.
Business Knowledge: Working knowledge of mortgage–backed securities, loan origination, loan trading, loan collateral analytics, and mortgage loan servicing.
Project Experience: -The candidate will have successfully deployed multiple full lifecycle J2EE projects, and will be able to prioritize multiple development tasks and project timetables accordingly, with a focus on rapid prototyping and incremental delivery. The candidate will be results-oriented, and able to work with a minimum of supervision in order to meet deadlines.
Communication Skills: -Able to work collaboratively within a small group; able to mentor junior Java developers, or other senior developers transitioning to Java/J2EE. Able to clearly communicate multiple design approaches for a given problem; defend a design approach to other team members. -Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results oriented environment.
