The Fixed Income team is working on several initiatives to do with building trading systems, risk systems and reporting components as part of a complete overhaul of the architecture within our desk. Many of the projects include building various client and server side components which fit into our strategic model and will result in decommission of existing legacy system. It utilizes a distributed architecture to enter, validate and persist trades as well reflect real time position changes for better risk management. Also, a component of the job is to maintain and tactically enhance existing systems while working on strategic vision

Principal Responsibilities
Work on understanding current business flows, functionality and define requirements
To be able to work independently on a given module from requirement to implementation
Work on developing Server side (Java, UNIX) as well as client side (Java, GUI) modules using RMI/EJB based distributed framework
Coordination with team members and ability to work with other teams to make sure proper standards are followed and also to reuse existing architecture
Being able to understand and participate in database modeling , performance tuning and development of trade and position data mining queries
Be able to support production users and batches

Experience/Skills:
2-3 years minimum experience
Strong Java skills and Object Oriented Analysis/Design skills
Experience developing in a Unix/Windows environment
Database skills in Sybase
Experience or knowledge of Java based GUI development a big plus
Experience with distributed systems and message-oriented middleware concepts highly desirable * Financial background highly desirable, Experience in fixed income systems big plus
Good communication/interpersonal skills
