Javelin Technologies Releases Next-Generation Appia Trading Infrastructure
Latest Version Includes CMS Support, Nasdaq Functionality, and Enhanced Routing
NEW YORK – November 12, 2002 – Javelin Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NYFIX, Inc. (Nasdaq: NYFX) and the leading supplier of FIX solutions to the global securities industry, today announced the latest release of its leading-edge trade infrastructure software, Appia. Already the most widely deployed FIX-based messaging solution in the industry, Appia now offers support for the CMS protocol, as well as enhanced FIX order routing between disparate networks and applications.
Appia support for the CMS protocol, an access protocol used by a variety of exchanges including the NYSE and AMEX, adds to Javelin and NYFIX’s extensive experience routing orders down to the floor of the NYSE and connectivity endeavors with other global exchanges.
“Javelin was actually one of the first vendors to offer connectivity to the CMS-based exchanges, specifically to the NYSE through our FIXchange service which has been doing so for more than three years now,” explains John Coulter, president and COO for Javelin Technologies, Inc. “With CMS now built into our Appia platform, brokers who desire higher messaging throughput down to the exchange will now be able to do so directly. The flexibility of Appia allows us to easily incorporate additional trading protocols that are integral to STP.”
Additional enhancements included with the latest version of Appia include plug-ins to facilitate FIX-to-FIX routing between disparate networks, and support for FIX-based order flow for users of the BRASS OMS. Appia also supports CTCI for the transmission of ACT and TRACE messages at Nasdaq, which facilitate automated trade reporting and reconciliation in the OTC market.
In addition to these new features, Appia also offers customized access to Euronext and EMX in Europe, and CME in the US. And through Javelin’s relationship with parent company NYFIX, Appia customers can send messages to a multitude of international exchanges that use proprietary messaging protocols, including A/C/E, Liffe, TSE, and Tiffe.
The company believes Appia also supports the widest array of middleware APIs and the industry’s only software-based High Availability and Disaster Recovery over WAN (Wide Area Network). “With our HA over WAN functionality, firms can run hot disaster recovery engines in various geographic locations without the need for manual intervention, ensuring business continuity and eliminating the high cost of hardware-based fail over solutions,” explains Coulter.
Approximately 125 investment firms and brokerage houses have installed Appia since the product was introduced in April 2001.
