Junior Project Manager, Exchange Connectivity Group - LONDON
Our client is a broker that deals in the equity markets of over 40 countries. It incorporates advanced trading technology with traditional brokerage support, which enables clients to improve their performance by reducing their overall trading costs.
The Exchange connectivity Group is responsible for the delivery and ongoing maintenance of Front Office Cash Equity technology projects to meet the trading requirements of the business.
Key Result Areas
Responsible for the project management and control of all project activities throughout the complete project life cycle (including discussion with the business, specification, development, testing and deployment) for the building of exchange linkages applications, trade reporting applications and provision of market data from exchanges primarily in Europe.
Responsible for the definition and management of project deliverables through the use of structured methodologies.
Responsible for co-ordinating and acting as liaison with various groups both within and outside of Instinet.
Responsible for providing updates and receiving feedback from business sponsors/trading.
Responsible for risk mitigation, monitoring and management for the meeting of highly pressurised targets when managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties
Responsible for ensuring that projects remain focused on the business deliverables and ensuring all business requirements are met.

Acting as key point of contact for Development teams and key business sponsors in Europe and the USA.
Responsible for maintaining relationships with our electronic executing brokers, vendors, Reuters and our Exchange business contacts and account managers.
Key role in communicating new upgrades, policy initiatives and products to internal staff.
Responsible for initiating new projects.
Responsible for chairing and driving project meetings.
Responsible for maintaining project plans (in terms of budget, scope, schedule and resources); co-ordination of project resources and dependencies in accordance to the plan, resolving planning conflicts and managing project issues lists.
Responsible for status collation, milestone tracking, global project communication and co-ordination.
Responsible for the management of staff on a given project as part of a matrix management structure.
Essential Requirements
Good basic understanding of equity stock markets and trading.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Experience of systematic project management through the use of structured methodologies.
Ability to converse competently with software developers, infrastructure teams, traders and senior management.
Must be an assertive individual who will push to get the project delivered with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to bridge the gap between the trading and technology teams.
Team Leadership experience.
Educated to degree standard.
Good general PC skills and knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, MS Project, etc.
Happy to travel around Europe and the USA on an occasional basis.
Desirable Requirements
Knowledge of equity products, trade reporting and market data.
One other European language, preferably French, German or Spanish.
Experience
The applicant will have at least 2-3 years experience of working within European securities markets preferably within electronic trading. Ideally he/she will have been involved with project work and be cognisant of the key changes in Exchanges’ equity trading systems. He/she will ideally have spent time working for a software development unit within a stock exchange, financial institution or vendor and gained exposure to both equities and technology.
