Job Description
TransactTools is seeking world-class employee for mid-level system administrator. Qualified candidates must have 4+ years experience and be willing to be on call 24x7 with a pager.
Required Qualifications
-Linux in a production environment
-BSD* in a production environment
-Other UNIX in a production environment
-Windows Server in a corporate environment
-Exchange 5.5/2000/2003
-Medium Active Directory
-Networking fundamentals – 7 layer model, sockets, stateful, stateless, security
-Networking hardware – Ethernet, IP, VPN, firewalls, must know the difference between switches, hubs, routers, bridges
-Medium networking software – SSH, SNMP, VPN, firewalls, NFS, tcpdump, ttcp, etc.
-Medium Perl programming
-Medium shell, bash preferably
-Mid Java programming
-Medium NFS
-Strong X86 hardware
-RAID – explain the differences between 0,1,0+1,10,4,5 and how to tune for specific applications and file systems
-File system fundamentals
-System optimization – file handles, inodes, cpu usage, etc.
-Medium data center experience
-Medium desktop support
-Medium apache configuration
-Monitoring applications – mon, nagios, bigbrother, etc.
-Mail – Sendmail, Postfix, qmail, Exim
-Can pick up new operating systems and other technology quickly
Preferred Qualifications/Characteristics
-Proximity to downtown Manhattan
-Knowledge of FIX
This is a full-time position - consultants or contractors will not be considered.
Must be able to work in the U.S. immediately - no sponsorship.
If not in the New York City area, must be willing to relocate.
