Minimum Trading Units

Imported from previous forum

Hi,

I’m Daniel and I’m with a new online
stock broker in Japan. We are curretly
in the process of estblishing a FIX
connection with a European stock broker.
It has been called to my attention that
there are some European and US insturments
that have a minimun trading requirement
in order to be sent by FIX. If this is
correct where can I get hold of a list
of such entitities, the minimum lot requirement
and their markets? I have asked our pricipal
(the European stockbroker) but they informed
us that while they do have the list, they
are not able to give it to us on a B2B basis.

It is very crucial for us to have the list
in order to make configurations for FIX.
Any help is very appreciated.

Thank you.

Daniel

If you mean defferences between FIX-EURONEXT(http://customer-service.euronext.fr/fixdocsite/docres/html/index.html)
and FIX US(http://www.fixprotocol.org); Yes, there is some differences.
e.g. you can compare an FIX_EURONEXT Order and FIX US Orde by specifications.

A point of clarification: “FIX-EURONEXT” identified below is one firm’s (the Euronext exchange) specific implementation of the FIX Protocol. The FIX Protocol is not “FIX US”, rather is a global protocol specification. The FIX Protocol is documented and supported via http://www.fixprotocol.org Specific questions regarding Euronext or other firm’s specific implementations of the spec should be directed to them vs. on this site.

Roman, Scott,

Thank you very much for your replies. Its seems
though the minimum stocks requirements was for
Japanese stocks and not for European and US
stocks.

We were making tests with the Tokyo Stock Exchange
and got rejections for some orders. Japanese
stocks have a minimum limit for each order,
usualy 1000 stocks or they will not be processed.
Our programer made a mistake in his observations
when he told me that he got the rejections for the
European and US orders, but in truth they were
for the Japanese orders.

Everything has been cleared up now, thank you
for your help. The info you have provided will
be useful in the future though.

Daniel
