Major NYC based Financial Institution seeks a Networking superstar with FIX Traffic experience.
This person would have a minimum of 5 years in network administration, preferably in a mission-critical Financial environment featuring a significant portion of FIX traffic. We are looking for a candidate who is capable of performing troubleshooting, analysis and design of FIX networks, and consider this a very big asset. Someone who has experience that includes, but is not limited to, the major vendors (Cisco, etc.), and who has exposure to networks that carry mission-critical VoIP traffic. Experience with leveraging the Linux platform for network solutions is a must. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable using host-based tools in a Windows and POSIX (Linux, UNIX) environment to assess network performance and to troubleshoot. This is a hands-on position that requires first-hand knowledge of implementing solid solutions. The position involves being on call for support of the European market hours and will periodically include off-hours maintenance and implementation work.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years in the network administration field, performing network administration, design, analysis implementation, troubleshooting in the financial industry, and in an environment where security and availability are of very high importance
A detailed knowledge of working in an environment featuring FIX traffic, and the ability to design LANs/WANs to support this traffic. The ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve problems with FIX communication.
Detailed knowledge of widely used Layer 2 LAN networking concepts and technologies, including STP (802.1d,s,w), VLANs (802.1q and ISL), Layer 2 QoS techniques and concepts including VPT (802.1p), IGMP snooping, multicast filtering, GVRP and VTP, familiarity with variant media types and negotiation speeds (should be familiar with the different fiber as well as copper types). The candidate should be able to design and implement a wireless network in an environment where security is a key concern.
Detailed knowledge of widely used Layer 3 LAN networking concepts and technologies, including unicast routing protocols (RIPv2, OSPF, BGP and all BGP design variants), NAT, Layer 3 QoS and traffic-shaping - expertise with concepts and techniques, particularly with vendor-generic technologies. The candidate should also understand multicast routing protocols, and be able to convey standard design theory for multicast routing in LAN environments.
An understanding of designing and building fault-tolerant routing and switching solutions: VRRP/HSRP, etc. The candidate should be able to discuss currently used solutions and their pros/cons in detail.
Substantial expertise with security devices, especially packet filters of variant types, particularly the more prominent vendors (CheckPoint, PIX), and Netfilter. Intrusion detection devices, network security analysis tools (nmap, snort, etc.)
Experience with policy routing is a big plus.
Experience with the prominently used WAN technologies: DS1, DS3, MAN, etc. The candidate should be comfortable working with and troubleshooting BGP configurations and WAN protocols (X.25, Frame Relay)
An understanding of VPN technologies, deployment and support.
A strong working knowledge of the POSIX environment, the tools used in this environment, and the ability to build Intel-based generic solutions as well as appliance solutions. The candidate should be familiar with working in a network that supports a heterogeneous environment (Wintel, Linux, UNIX).
Prominent industry certifications are a big plus: CCNP, CISSP, CCDP, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience.
