Hi,

This question is more of a curiosity -

Are there plans for a new version? If so, would anyone happen to know when its planning to come out? I noticed from information on site that new versions introduced typically 1-3 yrs so just wondering if there was a timeframe for which the organization typically aims?

With the introduction of Extension Packs, FPL has new “versions” all the time, i.e. as soon as a new EP is approved and implemented. New messages, fields and valid values are then immediately available and the related Gap Analysis document provides information on functionality and usage.

FIX 5.0 SP2 has seen almost 30 EPs being approved (not all of them have been implemented and posted yet). These will eventually be rolled into the next release SP3. This will then also include an update of the spec documentation (Volumes 1-7) but it will not be the first time that new features are available. SP3 is likely to be put together in 2011.
