Hi all,
Ive been goin thru lots of articles as part of my FIX Domain Training.
I recently read that NYSE is auction driven and NASDAQ is quote driven
(i.e involves market makers who announce bid/ask quotes)
am kinda confused b/w the two trading mechanisms.
So my Question:- What is the difference b/w trading in NYSE vis-a-vis trading in NASDAQ? (If Any)
plz help me out with as much detail as possible.
hope these help.

Hi all
I am Another Moron that would like to waste everyone’s time. I really appreciate that many of you have spent years establishing an industry standard protocol and this has now evolved to provide a useful tool for idiots like me to ask really dumb questions on it.
Whats really worrying is that after this guy has finished his “FIX Domain Training” he will be out there offering FIX services into a market where he doesn’t even understand the basics of trading.
Regards

Dear “Another Moron”,
You need not be worried about Sandeep’s next client (to whom he will be offering his FIX services after completion of his Domain training).
I personally do not think Sandeep’s question is moronic / foolish - if it were, then websites like investopedia.com and about.com would not waste their space, time and energy discussing “NYSE Vs NASDAQ”. I had the same question which Sandeep had and these two websites answered it.
You talk as if you were born with all knowledge of FIX / Electronic trading, which is not true. We all learn along the way and in that process we ask questions which may appear foolish, but are not.
Dear Sandeep,
Sorry for the late reply, busy relocating, project, family & kid, Painting, SCEA, etc… Do not get discouraged by this moron’s message.
How did your domain training go? Feel free to post questions and I promise to answer them subject to my time constraints.
There is a saying “Its wise to learn by asking questions than to remain a fool by pretending to be wise” ![]()
