Order submission into exchange

Imported from previous forum

Just a question on FIX engine products.

Assume that an exchange will take orders of each type of instrument, says equity and fix-income, through different ports. For example, an exchange will listen to equity orders through port number 10 while it will listen to fix-income orders through port number 20.

Further assume that a broker is using just one FIX gateway.

My question is whether or not a single FIX gateway can route orders of equity and fix-income to the exchange through a correct port.

Thanks for any response!

A single Fix gateway can route orders to different ports as long it ( your Fix gateway) supports multiple sessions ( 2 different fix session to these ports)

Most of the standard fix engine do supports that.

Thanks,

The CompIDs will be used by the fix engine to determine the correct network port.

Yes, many FIX engines can dynamically route based on tag settings,
so if the tag SecurityType(167) is set appropriately, the FIX engine should be able to route it correctly.
