Role of Department
The Equities IT department is responsible for the delivery, maintenance and support of trading system technologies for Securities.
Job Description:
The position is within the fidessa team, a team of 25+ individuals who are responsible for the fidessa trading platform which is used by the UK, European and International equity and derivative traders. The team has a demanding long-term delivery schedule involving eCommerce, FIX, global order routing and ‘automated’ retail trading. This role would involve the following and, if required, appropriate training would be provided:
This role would be within the FIX client connectivity team and involve the following responsibilities:
· Responsible for defining the detailed business and system requirements for each client. This would cover user functionality and end to end trade flow design.
· Organising the system, integration and user/client acceptance testing of each phase. This would include the scripting of test plans and extensive client liaison.
· Carry out some implementation and/or technical tasks. These could include tasks such as organising installation of hardware and software, managing a plan for an implementation weekend or configuring user screen layouts.
· Organising the user training for each system delivery.
· Lead role in trading floor and client support when new connections are delivered and provide some ongoing support as part of team.
Essential Experience Required:
· Ability to communicate effectively with third party consultants, technical experts across the whole department and demanding, impatient internal and external traders.
· Detailed knowledge of front office equity trading business area.
· At least 2 years’ experience of delivering systems in a structured environment.
Desirable Experience:
· Evidence of willingness to successfully take on responsibility.
· Ability to work in a structured way, particularly with regard to testing.
· Knowledge of design and implementation of distributed computing environment.
· Knowledge of equity settlement processes
· Experience of FIX, fidessa or similar trading systems
